The river, the hands, the rhythm of silk. Sualkuchi is the weaving village of Assam. We brought two pieces home. One found its owner. One is still here.
Murshidabad
Bengal
Silk mark certified. We stayed in Baharampur, traveled by car, and brought back cocoons too. We tried sericulture at home. The worms came out, laid eggs, but we had to leave for another journey.
Bhagalpur
Bihar
A village where everyone weaves. Our first batch of Tussar silk came from here. The looms never stop.

Kosa silk from Chhattisgarh. Less people know about this place — and that is why we are proud to show it.

Famous for Jamdani and fine cotton. We have been here twice. The prices are high, but the weave is unmatched.

Kantha stitch from Bolpur. We came here with family. Pisi was with us. The haats here are full of colour.

We have been here four times. Ghosh er Haat, Bonger Haat, Jagadhatti Haat. Go early, stay overnight. The best pieces come at dawn.
